POPPY

Patient reported Outcomes, postoperative Pain and Pain relief after daY case surgery

The POPPY Study is the 4th national RAFT project. This observational cohort study will create a picture of current UK day-case surgery using patient centred outcomes, especially persistent post-operative pain and persistent opioid use.

Many sites in the EoE contributed early in 2024. The POPPY study has now finished recruiting and data analysis is ongoing.

STORE
(Survey of Training Opportunities in EoE)

Our inaugural EASTRN project was STORE: a survey of training in research in EoE. The survey was really successful with a brilliant response rate.

The site survey ("Site STORE") was presented at AAGBI WSM 2024 where it was shortlisted for discussion and won second prize in the survey category. The abstract was published in the Anaesthesia supplement: SITE STORE (Site Survey of Training Opportunities in Research in the East of England): does the region support training in research?  Volume 79, Issue 51 P1-88

STORE itself was presented at the regional Harold Youngman meeting in 2023, this generated a lot of discussion and hopefully raised the profile of our new TRN in the region.

We would like to thank the following people who acted as site lead for STORE; they contributed significantly by running data collection at their hospital as well as completing the site surveys:
